Contents page analysis

This contents page is quite simple the way in which it is set out. It is very textual, but still uses images that go with the main stories. They have used the colors red, black, white and beige on their ‘Oasis special’ section so that it stands out from the rest of the page as it is something they want viewers to see and not overlook. They have gone along with the theme of the magazine logo colors of white and red, but calmed it down a tone with the black behind the main titles as a way to contrast the colors and make the page more exciting. They have a main image for their main/most popular story which takes up most of the page so that it is clear that their main story is about The Courteeners and people won’t get it mixed up with their Oasis special being the featured article.

Along the top right of the page they have the issue number, date and year of the magazine, which helps readers keep in track of what’s what with which magazine.

They have a thumbnail sized photo near the section of their reviews as a way to get our eyes moving away from the main photo.

All along the left side of the page is a list of their contents, this is a very simple and organized way to show where all the articles are, and gives the page a sort of margin and a line where the main photo stops, also at the bottom of the list is another section for monthly things like ‘crossword; and subscriptions to get people to come and buy the magazine for something else other than just music.
